Wickford RI's Bee Honey Man | Sheridan Apiaries

 

There is nothing like local bee honey.  We are fortunate in and around Wickford to have apiaries that supply all the locals with all they need.  SheridanSheridan Apiary honey jar Apiaries at 180 Tower Hill Road, Wickford, RI 02852 is one of my favorites.

 
The bee man is Dick and he is someone you should know.  His honey is flavorful and if you have allergies to outdoor things (pollen, etc.) it really helps to lessen the impact on the body when local honey is ingested.  It works for me.
 
 Sheridan Apiaries, his honey business, has honey in all sizes and fantastic long tapered beeswax candles he sells at their local stand.  Trying to catch him is the problem so here is the phone number to contact them:  401.450.9201.  Best to give him a call to see when he may be manning his local stand.
 
Asking some questions about his bees I found out that the worker bees never let the temperature of the hive get below 55 degrees throughout the winter!  What!  They eat the honey they stored and stay busy to generate heat in the hive.  Have to keep that Queen Bee warm or all is over for the hive!  
 
Hope you are able to catch him this season and stock up on your own supply of winter honey.  Nothing like green tea with a hint of Wickford honey in it.
