If It Is Not A Historic House in Wickford Tear It Down

If It Is Not A Historic House in Wickford Tear It Down

That seems to be the word lately along the waterfront in Wickford RI where most of the historic homes are.  If you are not classified as an historic home by the PreservationWickford RI now vacant land in real estate Commission, you can tear the home down.  From cottage to contemporary it is becoming a trend here.  Lots when they become available sell for $1 million (.125 of an acre no less).  You would think this was Malibu California with these prices.

There is one street especially, Pleasant Street, that commands these big bucks.  Yes, the views are extraordinary looking and being on Wickford Harbor, the sailing boats, kayaks, & motor boats parade before you out to Narragansett Bay and beyond.

So another lot was vacated of its Victorian, not historic home, last week.  It is time for a grandiose home to go up on the water.  I love to see progress but some of this demolition is destroying the landscape of this picturesque little village.  My village so to speak.

Restrictions are very tight here but the ones with deep pockets always seem to maneuver through the restrictions well.  They have the right lawyers and the deeper pockets.

So I am wondering now what is the next house to go as these homeowners on the street see huge retirement funds that await them when they sell.  It is called progress in RI real estate.

However if you do buy a historic home here there is no tear down allowed.  It is protected.  So are you looking for a Wickford Village home to buy?  Or would a non-historic home fit your needs?

Let's talk progress and possibilities when you are considering buying into this community I know so well.  You want to do it right do you not?
